Pearsall Foundation Announces 32 grants funded.

Johnsburg, NY. The Glenn and Carol Adirondack Foundation is a private foundation established in 2000 “dedicated to improving the quality of life for year-round residents of the Adirondack Park.” Since its inception, the foundation has funded more than 600 not-for-profit grant requests totaling over $1.3 million dollars.

The trustees of the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation met with representatives from Caroga Lake area not-for-profits in late September, organized by Caroga Arts Collective, to discuss issues in the community. The trustees later convened to review 86 grant applications totaling $612,229. The board is pleased to have fully funded the requested amount for 24 grants and partially funded 10. The annual underwriting for North Country Public Radio (NCPR) and Mountain Lake PBS and the Junior Trustee grant proposal were also approved, for a total of $106,103 awarded.

  • Essex Initiatives for supplies and marketing costs for the Chili Cook-Off event.
  • Tahawus Cultural Center, Appleby Foundation, AuSable Forks NY to support winter weekend workshops.
  • Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation, Inc., Watertown NY to reimburse mileage for volunteer drivers.
  • Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Waitsfield NY for the Northern Forest Explorers Scholarship Fund.
  • Adirondack North Country Association, Saranac Lake NY to administer an environmental assessment for an affordable housing project.
  • Pendragon Theatre, Saranac Lake NY to support theatrical production costs.
  • Eagle Island, Inc., Saranac Lake NY for education programs.
  • BluSeed Studios, Inc., Saranac Lake NY to fund art instructors, materials and fees for 12 family programs.
  • Play ADK, Inc., Saranac Lake NY to support infant and toddler playgroup programming.
  • Tupper Arts, Inc., to support middle/high school student programming.
  • Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, the Wild Center, Tupper Lake NY to support the Youth Climate Summit.
  • Lake Placid Institute to underwrite K-12 poetry and photography contests.
  • Lake Placid Sinfonietta for artist performance stipends and in-school sessions.
  • Lake Placid Center for the Arts to support the School Day Matinee programs.
  • Craigardan, Elizabethtown NY to fund local food purchase for the Free Food Fridge program.
  • Adirondack Community Action Programs, Inc., Elizabethtown NY for the local school food backpack progam.
  • Upper Jay Art Center for production expenses.
  • The Fort Ticonderoga Association for outreach programs to schools in the Adirondack region.
  • Ticonderoga Central Schools for the local school food backpack programs.
  • Moriah Central School Backpack Program to purchase food for the backpack program.
  • We Are Instrumental, Putnam Station NY to offset honoraria for 10 teaching artists and 2 master technicians.
  • Tannery Pond Center, North Creek NY for artist fees for eight concerts.
  • Minerva Central School Backpack Program to purchase food for the backpack program.
  • Silver Bay YMCA to provide emergency housing.
  • Up Yonda Farm, Bolton Landing NY to support school, group and homeschool programs.
  • Old Forge Library to purchase art and craft supplies for 24 community craft sessions.
  • Long Lake Public Library to fund children’s book purchases.
  • Cranberry Lake North Shore Hub to purchase an outdoor handicap access lift.
  • Caroga Arts Collective for in-school lessons and Ensemble Program.
  • Seagle Music Colony, Schroon Lake NY for singer’s, music and stage director fees.
  • Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc., Glens Falls NY for children’s concerts at Warrensburg Central School.
  • North Country Public Radio for annual underwriting.
  • Mountain Lake PBS for annual underwriting.

The Junior Trustees presented a proposal for their annual special grants. They selected the Adirondack Experience: The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, NY as their Adirondack not-for-profit, and chose to combine their individual $500 awards into a single $1,000 award supporting the education programs. The board approved their proposal.
